I've talked about it for 2 yrs and now I'm finally doing it. I have changed the format and the software the site is currently run on today. As of today we have over 9700 posts on the old site and over 500 members. Members from the old formatted site will have to re-register under the new site. All members are welcome back but members sign up for different reasons in different phases of their lifes so some members may choose not to come back and I'm sure in sending this e-mail out that not all e-mails addresses are current anymore.
Reason for change:
There are several reason why the change needs to be made now. People are finding this site days after their loved ones injury. When you log into this Anoxic Injury for the first time and you have 9700 post to read through it can be alittle overwhelming. With our new structure hopefully it will be alot easier for them and for you to locate information. They will have a road map to where they need to go first. It's good to read the personal updates so you can learn about everything but days after an injury there are things our new members need to educate themselves on quickly and we want to give them the resources they need asap. Another reason is website security. Everyday the world wide web gets bigger and bigger and everyday there are more people hacking websites. Most of the time they run script on the site to deface it. As with anything nice you have there is someone out there that would like to mess it up. When Anoxic Injury was started I used a freeware open source software program called php-nuke and it has done its job pretty well up to now. And times have changed and we must change to keep up with the times.
Starting Over
Over the next several months Hana and I will be moving posts from the old site over to our new site. If there is information you would like from the old site like posts from within your personal update forum send me a message and I will work with you transfering it over.
Thanks,
Rich
